Jamie’s Italian Pizzeria. Lunch with Archie

A lunch date with the youngest at Jamie’s Italian Pizzeria, Cambridge

A couple of weeks ago, Archie and I were in Cambridge doing some Back to School shopping.  It was our last outing before he started his new term as a Year 6, so we decided to have lunch out.  Archie wanted to go to Jamie’s Italian Pizzeria, as I hadn’t eaten there before I agreed.

I wasn’t disappointed.

The Pizzeria is on the 1st floor above Jamie’s Italian in Wheeler Street, with its own entrance.

Decor

Decor in this building was right up my street.  The Pizzeria has so much character and the attention to detail was everything that I would expect for a restaurant of Jamie Oliver.  High ceilings, chandeliers and retro signs gave you instantly a warm welcoming feeling that you were going to have a good experience.

Jamie’s Italian Pizzeria is a small bespoke restaurant, situated above Jamie’s Italian and I would recommend that if you want to eat there you should book, HOWEVER as luck would have it, we got a table straight away.  This probably had something to do with the fact that we were shopping on one of the hottest days and people just didn’t want to eat inside.  When Archie went there previously with a friend and their family they had over an hour wait for a table.

Lets talk about the meal

The staff were attentive and our order was delivered quickly which is always a bonus when eating with children.

We ordered Garlic Bread to share as a starter.  It was served with fresh rosemary already sliced on a beautiful rustic board.

Archie ordered a plain pizza with parma ham on for his main, I ordered Gennaro’s Italian Sausage Pizza.  If I had one tiny criticism it would be that the cutlery given to cut the pizza’s were just not sharp enough to cut through them.  We ended up asking the kitchen to cut them into slices to save on the embarrassment.

Conclusion

My Pizza beat me.  When I say that I don’t mean it jumped off the plate to attack me, I merely mean that I couldn’t finish it.  Archie on the other hand finished his full pizza.  How can a 10 year old manage a bigger pizza than me?  They even offered to box it for me to take out, and had we have been heading home I would have accepted.  I couldn’t bring myself to go through John Lewis shopping with a Pizza on one of the hottest days of the year.

All in all we LOVED it.  I will definitely go back again.
