It’s been just over a week now since I attended my first ever networking event at Southwood Social Hub. I usually avoid networking events like the plague, I just don’t feel comfortable and never really put myself into those situations; so what made this different? It didn’t feel like a ‘networking’ event. It was all women, from all over the country, all with different stories and businesses. There was no standing on ceremony or making speeches. You just chatted, relaxed and enjoyed a cup of tea with some nibbles in the process.
Let me tell you about the lady who runs Southwood Social Events.
Hayley Southwood is one of the most infectiously positive lady that I think I have come across in a long while.
She is a true entrepreneur, founder of Southwood Stores an on-line haven of delights along with a showroom where you can touch and feel the gorgeous products whilst having a cup of tea. Hayley has designed her own in-house clothing line GRAY, and also writes a blog BREATHE HAPPINESS alongside Shaneen a talented photographer.
Hayley’s new showroom space means she can run workshops and events empowering women to reach for their own dreams and successes.
After the initial fear of arriving and walking into the unknown, I soon realised that everyone was really lovely and it felt like I was surrounded by friends. I know that sounds like a complete cliché but its true.
I can’t make a shout-out to everyone because I didn’t made it round the room to speak to everyone. There were so many fab women that we spilled out from the showroom to the outside lawn. Next time I will try to reach everyone.
So many people to mention:
Top of the list Hayley Southwood for just being brilliant and lovely. You don’t have a bad bone in your body.
Anna from Little Flea always inspires me. Such a confident women with an amazing sense of fashion. I have known Anna a while now.
Chloe from Bare Blooms, the brilliant Jess from Rosita Lollipop, Marianna from Chocolate Box Coaching and Sarah from Miss magpie fashion spy; thank you. I just remember laughing a lot.! I may have instigated a conversation about bladder weakness too with you all. In for a penny in for a pound.
I also met Amanda who has a blog called Ginger Mum. It was great to speak to someone who has been successful as a blogger and felt inspired to go for it. She has also written a fab account of this event and is also running a competition, so do head over to her site to check it out.
